The results are in from the Humanity International Film Festival. At Humani-T Cafe (5755 Young) July 1-6, 15 international shorts were screened and then judged by a jury of nine. Halifax’s Pardis Parker swept it, winning three of the six awards (best local, best Canadian, best comedy) for his silent short, The Dance. Spain’s Martin Rosete won best drama and best international for Voice Over and UK’s Grant Orchard took best animation for A Morning Stroll. “The festival was such a hit and people loved the films so much that we may just have a third screening in the works for the end of the summer,” says organizer Kiyan Sobhani. See? Sometimes things do go your way.
