What’s a movie without snacks? An incomplete experience, we’d say.
As Atlantic Film Festival gets rolling we can practically smell the popcorn in the air, and it’s likely coming straight from Big Monkey Kettle Corn (404-4444), maker of sweet and salty kettle-popped corn (in both classic and Cinnamon Toast flavours).
“Chief Monkey” Ken Hollingum has been hand-popping this treat in small batches and taking it to festivals, events and markets—like the VG Farmers’ Market (1276 South Park Street) on Fridays from 10am-2pm—since 2010. His corn is such a hit, he’s currently working on taking the Monkey to the UK, but don’t worry, someone will hold down the kettle here. This stuff beats the fake-buttered stuff any day (take that from a fake-butter-lover) and you can feel OK about powering through the entire bag before the movie even starts.
