Lessons through DaCane Surf Shop

Surf's up! DaCane Surf Shop (5239 Blowers Street, 431-7873) is offering clinics for beginner surfers who want to learn how to catch a wave.
Anybody who has a way to get to the shop to pick up equipment and a ride to Conrad's Beach is free to sign up for the shop's introduction to surfing clinics. Clinics take place on Tue. nights at 6:30-7:30 p.m and the store will take bookings a week or more in advance.
Surfing instructor Annie is a qualified lifeguard who will teach surfers the basics (how to "pop up", how to fall, safety, reading tides, et cetera) on land first before taking them out to the waves. The lesson is divided into a 15 minute on-land lesson and 45 minutes in-water lesson where Annie will attempt to get surfers riding the waves.
The clinic is $19.99 plus tax with equipment included. In addition, surfers get to keep their surfboards, boots, gloves and wetsuits from the lesson for 24 hours after to get some additional practice.
Regular clientele generally includes beginners from a wide range of ages, from 15-45. Other than having transportation and knowing how to swim, there are no qualifications for participating.
DaCane's is looking to provide a good starting point for beginner surfers and an opportunity to learn the basics. Care to test the waters?
