In his recent work he’s investigating the figure, referencing the old masters in his loose, contemporary style.

This photograph was taken in Long Beach, California while she was visiting family there, as part of a series Smith is doing of domestic scenes. “They’re so beautiful,” she says of the still lifes she captures. “The lighting, the setting, the arrangement” all inspire her.
