Waterfront Perks reopens

Free coffee this morning.

Posted by Tim Bousquet on Fri, Oct 30, 2009 at 7:20 AM

The Perks next to the ferry terminal has either successfully gotten an injunction on its eviction order (see Wednesday's story: Perks coffee evicted from ferry terminal digs) or has otherwise resolved the conflict with landlord Michel Lindthaler: I received word late last night that the coffee shop will be open its regular hours today, and all morning, until noon, it will be handing out free small coffees to welcome back customers.

Survey Asks

Do you agree with Halifax's school board cutting 152 teachers?

  • Yes, the board needs to meet its shrinking budget.
  • Only if managers and bureaucracy get a similar cut.
  • I don't care, I support the private education system.
  • No, giving young citizens the best education is too important to cut.

I can say I am greatful that PERKS is re-opened, I may only go there once a week, but the time our group spends there is great, the staff is friendly and curtiuos and yes my wife and another take coffe without milk and they have never made a mistake by putting milk in instead of a alternative.

As for the issue that arose around it, I know from landlords that had new plans or could make more money on the property would acccidently loose the cheque so the leasee would be in default and try to evict them. This type of behaviour on the Landlords part would indicate they had a better offer and wanted to make a new deal because they could force a greater profit out of a new tenant.

PERKS staff thanks again for sticking in there.

If every landlord evicted their tenants for rent being late only 3 weeks...then everyone would be out on the street. The dude is obviously a ****, or broke, one or the other.

Dude, you must be p*** off 'cause you didn't get your FREE cuppa, where did it say anything about "can't pay the rent". In fact, I know some of the suppliers they deal with and they're always in the good column. Hopefully you own your crib man...

It's always easy to pass judgement or make assumptions unless you are closer to the issue. I am very happy Ms. Inkpen, local business owner employing 57 local people, was successful in reclaiming her location. With the increase in medical problems from the consumption of fatty fast foods it does a body some good to consume fresher, healthier fare. It's hard to understand how it feels to be harrassed by a landlord with "Little Lord
Fontelroy" syndrome.....thank God you obviously aren't a business person.
