Atlantic Fashion Week hits Spring Garden

Events Friday and Saturday feature catwalks in Spring Garden Place and live mannequins in Park Lane.

This weekend marks the second Atlantic Fashion Week. Scaled down from last fall's inaugural event, there are two nights celebrating local fashion designers like Katrina Tuttle and Turbine, who will be showing their fall 2009 collections at the Olympic Centre on Cunard (Friday and Saturday, 8pm, $20). Then on Saturday afternoon, from 11:30am-12:30pm, look for live mannequins in Park Lane Mall, wearing fashions from mall retailers. From 1pm-1:30pm, there's a fashion show in Dresden Market featuring styles from retailers and local designers. The catwalk moves over to Spring Garden Place from 2pm-3pm. (Don’t forget to smile with your eyes.) Save some of your hard-earned cash though, because on Sunday there's a shopping party, featuring all the designers from the two showcases, at Vibe Salon Spa on the Bedford Highway. Time is still TBA, but check atlanticfashionweek.com for updates.
