long weekends are hell

This is a good week for those whose tastes run heavy and mordant. First there was the Slayer/Megadeth/Testament show (which we heard was soooo good and loud that it made at least one poor bastard vomit with great gusto). And then there’s the upcoming two-day Weekend of Noise: Halifax Metal Fest gives metalheads an extra reason to
stay in bed and recover on holiday Monday. Fuck the Facts will be headlining Friday night’s show at the Paragon for $15 at the door, along with Iron Giant, Orchid’s Curse, Hellacaust and Soviet Crowbeak. This comparison will probably get me
punched in the throat, but Fuck the Facts are basically the Sonic Youth of Canadian grindcore (they’ve been around for over ten years!!) so go and lay down some respect, peons.
Night two is happening at Gus’ Pub for $10 and features Montreal’s mighty black-metal outfit Necronomicon supported by Saint John’s The Daisy Antithesis, the young fellas in Obsidiyan, Napalm Raid and River Nihil. If you buy a $20 advance
ticket at Random Play or CD Heaven, you get into both shows. Hugs are free.
