Pipa offers dance nights and more

Portuguese and Brazilian eatery a wintry destination for those who like to move

Posted by Carsten Knox on Thu, Jan 12, 2012 at 4:00 AM

Pipa (1685 Argyle Street, 407-7472) wants to be your home for eating, dancing and movie-watching this winter.

On Wednesday nights from 8-10 pm, stop by for Swing Dancing, a social dance for all levels and abilities.

Or spice up your Fridays with Salsa, from 9pm-1am. Lessons run between 9pm and 10pm, with dancing to follow. Entry for a $5 cover (10 percent off entrees and no cover if you have dinner as well).

The three course dinner night takes place on Tuesday, January 17, a hearty Portuguese dinner for only $30.

And starting Thursday, January 26, Pipa is offering Dinner and a Movie at 7pm. Full dinner or Petisco (aka tapas) platters, popcorn and a screening of food/wine related movie. Pipa welcomes any requests you might have for the screening. Can we suggest Big Night, Julie and Julia and Babette's Feast?

Survey Asks

Do you agree with Halifax's school board cutting 152 teachers?

  • Yes, the board needs to meet its shrinking budget.
  • Only if managers and bureaucracy get a similar cut.
  • I don't care, I support the private education system.
  • No, giving young citizens the best education is too important to cut.
