Rock Island Bistro is all new

The former Rock Island Cafe forsakes Bermuda

Posted by Carsten Knox on Thu, Sep 2, 2010 at 4:00 AM

It was once a place that offered a variation on Caribbean cuisine, but since a change in management (which Shoptalk reported on earlier this summer) much has changed at the Rock Island (6293 Quinpool Road, 406-4387). “The restaurant is no longer a Bermuda restaurant but serves Canadian and international food in a casual atmosphere with affordable prices. We have jazz on Thursday nights and plan to have other offerings,” writes owner Abe Granat in an email. (But they don’t do open mic nights anymore.)

Survey Asks

Do you agree with Halifax's school board cutting 152 teachers?

  • Yes, the board needs to meet its shrinking budget.
  • Only if managers and bureaucracy get a similar cut.
  • I don't care, I support the private education system.
  • No, giving young citizens the best education is too important to cut.
