Driver Adam Francis and his wife are on strike.

He worries about his mortgage, car payment and how to provide for his children.

I caught up with Adam Francis at the Bridge Terminal this morning. We ducked into the bus shelter to get out of the rain.

Here's Adam's story:

Do you agree with Halifax's school board cutting 152 teachers?

  • Yes, the board needs to meet its shrinking budget.
  • Only if managers and bureaucracy get a similar cut.
  • I don't care, I support the private education system.
  • No, giving young citizens the best education is too important to cut.

Just as dumb as the television character. Educate yourself about the issue and you will not appear so stupid.

Hey Tim - we'd love to hear an interview with a ferry worker. I'm going to bet that you'll have a tough time finding one on the picket line.

I work a decent job and work quite hard each day and don't have money set aside as in I need a consistent pay cheque to make my bill payments or mortgage payments. If you have money set aside where you can be out there without "having to work"; you are doing much better than most of us! - My suggestion, take the decent raise you are getting and get back to work!

Finally! Someone says they have money set aside. I was hoping to hear that when I read that both people work for MT; granted one was on the job for 2 weeks, so no substantial pay, but still! I'm glad that someone out there has a head on their shoulders.

If you want to go back to work, then go. Tell your Union child leader to grow up. I wonder how much support he has? There aren't many strikers on the lines whenever there is a rally; I thought the membership was ~700? And his usual comment: "My phone is on 24 hours a day. They haven't called" crap is just that. Who stormed out of all the talks? Not the city, always Kenny. Does his phone not phone out? What's wrong with him getting the city back to the table?
